Linear Expression

An expression is said to be a Linear Expression if it is not an equation and it is of degree one. Moreover it can have any number of  variables or unknown. The standard form is ax+by+cz+...........

For Example:

  • large 6x+4y=0 is not a linear expression as it has an equal sign
  • large 4x+9y -7=0 is not a linear expression as it has an equal sign,
  • large 4x^2+5y -7=0 is not a linear expression as it a term with degree two and has an equal sign
  • large 15x -7y is a linear expression of degree one as it does not have an equal sign, and it is of degree one with two variables i.e. x, y.
